A Touch of Treacle

‘In times of austerity a little bit of what you fancy is very important’, says Bux Bailey, owner of the fabulous Treacle (www.treacleworld.com) in the East End’s famous Columbia Road. And who are we to argue? Treacle is now stocking our wines – either to take out or drink in. The quirky boutique and champion of new nostalgia is already well-known in the area for its scrumptious cup cakes and distinctive fox door knocker, and is the perfect venue for a quick wine-and-tapas stop.

Of course Borough Wines are also available at our own excellent establishments: the original Borough Wines in Borough Market; our seaside outpost in scenic Deal, Kent; the fabulous Wilton Way in Hackney; the highly acclaimed L’Entrepot in Dalston, where excellent food is also served. And not forgetting our latest addition – in buzzy Stoke Newington Church Street, no less – which is proving a huge success. It’s the talk of Stokey – so do pop in and fill your bottle.

As if all this wasn’t enough to keep us busy, the word is spreading further still with Borough wine barrels installed in some of London’s finest delis. There are two East London stockists: the Deli Downstairs (www.thedelidownstairs.co.uk) on Victoria Park Road (or Victoria Park Village as it known to some), purveyors of all things organic and artesan, along with L’Epicerie@56 (www.lepicerie56.com) on Chatsworth Road, Hackney.

Meanwhile, over in Hampstead and Primrose Hill, there is the glamorous Melrose and Morgan (www.melroseandmorgan.com) , masters of the stylish picnic-hamper, and kings of tasty, seasonal food. And not forgetting South London and the excellent Earlsfield Deli (www.earlsfielddeli.co.uk) and cheese-meisters, Bambuni (www.bambuni.co.uk ) in Nunhead, both well worth a visit. And we are very excited to be supplying our first shop in Wales – Wright’s Indpendent Food Emporium (www.wrightsfood.co.uk) , purveyors of top quality produce. Tidy!
