Fine Art/Fine Wine

Gavin Turk, glitz, glamour and Borough Wines booze at Simpsons

The launch of Gavin Turk’s new prints at Simpson’s-in-the-Strand was the place to be for those of us who appreciate a bit of fine art with our fine wine. His neon Door prints have been produced in collaboration with Galerie Simpson, and went down a storm with the suitably arty crowd – among them Turk himself and fellow notable YBAs Georgie Hopton and Fiona Banner, along with curator Julia Royse, gallerist Poppy Sebire and actor-and-restaurateur Neil Stuke.

Needless to say the evening was well-fuelled courtesy of Borough Wines – with the delicious Prosecco Terra Serena. And also on display was Gavin’s limited-edition wine label and wrap for Borough Wines – these adorn highly collectable bottles that are now available at the Borough Wines shops and the Fox’s Knocker (www.thefoxsknocker.com ), at a staggeringly good-value £7.50, and are the perfect Christmas gift for wine and art lovers alike.

The Gavin Turk label is the first in a Borough Wines series in collaboration with Galerie Simpson (www.galeriesimpson.com ), a project inspired by wine estate Mouton Rothschild, which every year since 1946 has commissioned a well-known artist or sculptor of the day to create an original work to illustrate a wine label. Time to start your collection – and watch this space for the next one.
